Item 3 - Updates to the Association Bylaws
The Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA), effective since October 19, 2021, modernizes the legal framework for non-profit organizations in Ontario. It requires these organizations to update their bylaws to ensure compliance with new standards for governance. The Crane Lake Association must revise its bylaws to align with ONCA, addressing aspects such as membership definitions, voting rights, member meeting notice and structure, and financial management. The Draft Bylaws are available for review, along with a summary of the changes proposed by the Board. Membership will be asked to vote to approve the Draft Bylaws at the Annual General Meeting to ensure compliance in advance of the October 2024 deadline imposed by ONCA. To approve changes to the Association Bylaws, a two-thirds majority of voting members in attendance is required.
